AFCON 2022 schedule scores standings
The Africa Cup of Nations is officially underway as 24 countries aim for continental supremacy. Algeria are the reigning champs, led by Riyad Mahrez of Manchester City, while Senegal, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Morocco all look like contenders. Six groups will see two teams from each advance to the round of 16, while the four best third-place teams also move on.

Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea, Morocco, Gabon and Nigeria have already qualified for the round of 16. Ghana, however, were bounced from the competition on Tuesday, suffering a surprising 3-2 loss vs. Comoros.
