Aubameyang does not want a move to Saudi Arabia, wants to play in a European club

Arsenal News: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly squashed any chance of moving to Saudi Arabia. Instead, the striker wants a move to a European side in January.

The former Arsenal captain has been exiled from the squad since early December. Mikel Arteta has not even allowed Aubameyang to train with the squad following a ‘disciplinary breach’.

Things got worse for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he was diagnosed with Covid before AFCON and developed a heart condition. Following this, the Gabonese striker has returned to London, where the club doctors are monitoring his situation.

The Arsenal #14 is fit to play as per reports. But Mikel Arteta is not willing to include him in the squad. Owing to this, the Gunners are looking to sell their former captain in the January transfer window.

Arsenal had reportedly received bids from Saudi Pro League sides Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr. But as per Telegraph, Aubameyang has made it clear that he would not be moving to Saudi Arabia.

Both the Saudi-based clubs wanted to buy Aubameyang on a loan deal until the end of the season. To add to this, they were ready to pay the £350,000 salary of the Gabonese striker.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reportedly had a lengthy discussion with his representatives on Sunday night. Following this, he has made it clear that he would like to move to a European club instead.

Aubameyang wants to move to a European club

The report states that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would prefer a move to another European club in January. But this could end up hurting Arsenal.

As stated earlier, Aubameyang’s wages are quite high. Hence, even if a club signs him on loan, they would not be willing to pay the full wages of the striker. Hence, this would mean that Arsenal would have to pay the remaining salary.

A few European clubs, including AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla, Juventus, Barcelona, and Marseille, have expressed an interest in signing Aubameyang. Hence, it would be up to Arsenal to decide where the striker goes.

Selling Aubameyang to Juventus could be a good option considering the Gunners want Arthur Melo in exchange. Hence, this move could help both the club and the player. Juventus are themselves looking to sell Alvaro Morata, hence they could be tempted to complete the deal on a loan initially.

With a move for Dusan Vlahovic looking unlikely in January, it is also possible that Mikel Arteta eventually decides to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Both Edward Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are also out of form for the Gunners. Hence, it has to be seen what happens in the next week.
