RYAN RICHTER NAMED PHILADELPHIA UNION ASSISTANT

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – La Salle men’s soccer alum Ryan Richter (2007-10) was announced as the newest assistant coach for the Philadelphia Union on Tuesday.

Richter, a native of Southampton, Pennsylvania, was drafted to the Union back in 2011 as the fifth overall pick in the MLS supplemental draft. He spent seven years playing professional soccer including two seasons with the Toronto FC.

The La Salle alum played four seasons for the Explorers serving as captain of the men’s team and earning multiple accolades including Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year, COSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team, two-time Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Year and NSCAA All-Region Third Team.

Richter recently served as head coach of the Union Academy’s U15 team who he led to the first ever MLS Next Cup Final.
