Transfer news LIVE as Newcastle to move for Ousmane Dembele plus Celtic and Liverpool updates

That’s us back again for another day in the January transfer window.

Yesterday was another interesting 24 hours as we heard plenty more news and views around the major players and potential deals this window might bring.

And that is sure to continue today as there remains just over a week in the window and plenty left for clubs to sort out in terms of new personnel.

This month, Newcastle look like they’re going to try to get Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele, who has reportedly been offered a “monster deal”, according to the Daily Mail.

Dembele, 24, is free to leave the Nou Camp at the end of the season. Even though he has been hurt, a lot of top teams from all over the world are sure to be interested in him.

One of these teams is said to be Newcastle, which was taken over by a Saudi-backed consortium. They can now spend their huge war chest because they were bought by the consortium.

Yesterday, St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin insisted Jamie McGrath remains part of his plans and has told the Ireland star to focus on getting back to playing for the club.

McGrath has missed the last two matches amid ongoing speculation about his future, with Birmingham, Middlesbrough and Wigan all reportedly interested in signing him.

The 25-year-old asked to be left out of the trip to Dundee United last week and also sat out Saturday’s Scottish Cup fourth-round tie at Ayr.

Ahead of the league game against Aberdeen at St Mirren Park on Tuesday night, Goodwin hinted McGrath could be ready to return to the squad.
